Criterion Games, a subsection of Electronic Arts, announced today that its popular Burnout Crash game would soon move onto the iOS platform. It’s a very simple, yet addictive arcade game with one goal in mind: crash. That’s right, just drive your car around and cause some serious destruction. I remember playing Burnout as a kid and I loved it. It’s definitely a good way to relieve some stress, too.
The game for iOS will include three game modes, eighteen traffic junctions, and six different locations. EA also goes out of its way to mention the groovy 80s-esque soundtrack playing in the background. Players will also be able to connect with friends to take part in competitive challenges and compare scores. Controls have been optimized for the iPhone and iPad’s touch screen as well. Users will be swiping around to navigate the vehicle and tapping to set off explosions, among other things.
If you can’t wait to start causing mind-blowing destruction with little motive, Burnout Crash is already available on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. No pricing details were announced yet, though I can’t imagine the game being any more than $9.99 on the app store. It will land in time for the holiday season for iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 4, and presumably iPhone 4S and fourth-generation iPod touch owners.
