A new project appeared on Kickstarter recently that wants to showcase the music in you through the power and potential of Apple’s iPad. The creators of Starr Labs have put together iTar, an accessory that turns your iPad into a functional guitar. This isn’t just any guitar, as apps can technically make it any instrument you want.
Normally a company that makes regular guitars, Starr Labs is stepping out of its comfort zone to create an iPad accessory. The design is elegant, yet simple and straightforward. Presumably, it will snap onto the iPad like a shell and you would then just launch the app of your choice and get rocking.
Starr Labs is looking to raise $50,000 by December 6th at 6:37 p.m. ET. Your life will be filled with misery and woe if you dare to submit your donation at 6:38. So far iTar has 19 backers and $3,821 pledged. As low as a one-dollar contribution is accepted, you won’t be able to actually buy an iTar until you’ve donated at least $200 — awfully pricey for an accessory, though comparatively cheap for a guitar. At that rate, perhaps you might want to consider buying a new iPhone 4S.
A somewhat similar add-on is the Atari Arcade, which turns iPad into a game console rather than a musical instrument. The possibilities are truly endless with Apple’s magical and revolutionary device.
