Google Voice has finally started getting the MMS support. According to the company’s “official” blog post, they’ve been hard at work trying to make this happen and thus far they managed to cram MMS capability for messages coming from one carrier – Sprint.
In other words, Google Voice users are now able to receive pictures and other multimedia messages from Sprint subscribers. The multimedia attachments will display on their mobile forwarding phone and in their email inbox when they enable text to email forwarding in the Google Voice settings. What’s more, the idea is to make MMSes display in the Google Voice inbox, too.
Of course, this is just the beginning and while I’m writing this Google folks are working with other mobile operators to make MMS work on Google Voice across all mobile phones. We’ll let you know as soon as we catch some newsworthy item on this. Stay tuned in the meantime, k?
