We’ve been watching the real-time feedback app Opinionaided on iOS for a while and now you users on Android can download the app and start getting real answers to your questions on the go.
At its core, Opinionaided is about getting real-time opinions about nearly anything. Want an honest answer on how those jeans really look on you? Ask the Opinionaided crowd with an included picture and you’ll get some honest feedback almost immediately. The feedback will come in the form of thumbs up, thumbs down, neutral and people even have the chance to leave a comment.
I recently sat down with CEO Dan Kurani to go over the app and the long-term vision and I used it to ask the community if they thought my iced tea looked good and included a picture. Within five minutes, I had received 15 responses about it, including comments. While that was about a trivial topic, it does show that the community is quite active and can deliver real-time feedback on opinions.
While he didn’t reveal a user base figure, Kurani said questions receive 70 responses on average and the first can start as soon as a few seconds after its posed. Interestingly enough, he mentioned how the community also extends upon the social graph because you can find and connect with people who think in a similar manner to you and who share the same opinions.
I can definitely see real value in this and Opinionaided wants to be the go-to experience for when you want real-time opinions anywhere you are, no matter what the issue or decision is. When you layer that opinion connection on top of other things like Facebook, Twitter and location-based services, I think it can turn your mobile phone into an incredible social tool that really augments your day-to-day life.
Moving forward, the Opinionaided team believes that there is potential to monetize around branded questions and perhaps advertising but it is in no rush to do so. The company is focused on scaling out the product, implementing new features and perhaps hopping onto other mobile platforms. It will have to make money at some point in the future (let’s hope) but Kurani insists that it will only be in a way which adds value to the user’s experience.
You can download the Opinionaided Android app from the Android Market right now.
