T-Mobile announces Magenta Saturday sale: smartphones, tablets for $50 or less

T-Mobile detailed its Magenta Saturday sale going on this Saturday. For one day only, customers will be able to get their hands on some of T-Mobile’s finer smartphones and tablets for $49.99 or less. A few are even free. You won’t be able to pay these prices up front, though. To get the big discount being advertised, a mail-in rebate is necessary.

Senior Vice President of Marketing at T-Mobile, John Clelland explains:

“T-Mobile wants to take the hassle out of Black Friday shopping with ‘Magenta Saturday’ by providing consumers with great deals a week early — and without having to wait in line early in the morning.”

So what phones and tablets are involved in Magenta Saturday? There are five devices that will sell for $49.99 and three selling for $0. The HTC Amaze 4G, Samsung Galaxy S II, and BlackBerry Bold 9900 will all run you $49.99 after a $150 mail-in rebate. The HTC Radar 4G will be the same price, but after a $50 mail-in rebate, and the T-Mobile G-Slate (tablet) will also go for $49.99, but after a $250 rebate. The T-Mobile myTouch Q and Samsung Exhibit II are the two free smartphones for this Saturday, each requiring a $50 mail-in rebate, and the Dell Streak 7 (tablet) will be free as well after a $100 rebate.

Overall, this sale has some significant value in it. Even the monthly payments required for each of these devices are inexpensive, ranging from $10 – $20 per month. A few of the smartphones are 4G-equipped, though make sure a 4G phone is in your best interest.

Again, T-Mobile’s Magenta Saturday event is a one-day only sale on November 19th.

Update: Thanks to some generous commenters, I noticed the sneaky fine print of the deal, which says that these prices are just down payments. You’ll pay the sales price initially, but the rest of the balance will be paid in full over the course of 20 months.
