Layar and LINDA, the largest women’s glossy in the Netherlands, are showcasing the future of print by creating the first Dutch augmented reality magazine. As a result, the new LINDA magazine comes with so called “digital buttons” that are placed on more than 50 pages, allowing Layar users to access additional content with their smartphones. In total, there are 120 digital buttons placed throughout the magazine, linking to specific websites, videos, apps and phone numbers.
For instance, Layar users can access unique backstage video footage of the cover shoot, click to sites selling the fashion featured in the articles, and/or book a test drive for the advertised cars.
Sounds cool and we’re looking forward to the day when pretty much every printed magazine will have some sort of augmented reality “triggers” that provide access to additional content and services. Check out how it all looks like from the video Layar has prepared for the occasion…
