Navfree, the free GPS navigation app for the iPhone that was downloaded by more than 3.7 million users, is now available for the Android community as well. The application gets its data from OpenStreetMap, while also allowing users to update information while on the go. As a matter of fact, according to Navmii (the app developer), over 20,000 map corrections are made each month by Navfree users, making the application more and more accurate.
The neat thing is that maps come preloaded, hence allowing you to use Navfree even when there’s no mobile Internet around or it’s too expensive to use it — data roaming can cost a small fortune.
At the moment, only Navfree for Europe is in the Android Market, but we’re hearing versions for other countries will follow shortly…
