Gameloft has been going on a free-to-play craze lately ever since they first dipped into the business with Sacred Odyssey: Rise of Ayden. Shortly thereafter, the company started making a number of its most popular games freemium, such as Let’s Golf 3, and now it looks like the company will be releasing their upcoming Red Dead Redemption inspired shooter, Six-Guns, as a free-to-play title as well.
The news comes from a new trailer that was released today for Six-Guns which shows a ton of new gameplay footage that shows plenty of horse riding, bandit shooting, and the occasional sniping of a headless horseman.
Seeing as how Six-Guns is more of a complete adventure like Sacred Odyssey, I’m curious to see how exactly Gameloft plans to implement the freemium model to Six-Guns. If the game adopts an energy system similar to Let’s Golf 3, it can leave a lot of hardcore gamers frustrated as energy-based freemium models tend to make players put down the game every so often in order to recharge their energy. Having the game be totally free for the first stage of the game and asking for payment to unlock the rest of the content seems like a more feasible direction, which is exactly what Gameloft did with Sacred Odyssey.
