Motorola has started rolling out Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for its Milestone 2 smartphone in Europe. That, however, doesn’t mean you can get it right away; the new software will be released in stages so even if you can’t download it right now, check back again within few days.
The American handset maker turned to Facebook to spread the good news and we really applaud them for supporting their existing customers. Sure enough, they’re kinda late – but better late than never.
As far as I see this is the last official update Motorola Milestone 2 will ever get. I doubt it can “handle” Ice Cream Sandwich and even if some hackers found their way around and manage to port Android 4.0 to Milestone 2, I don’t suggest experimenting — simply put the experience won’t be on par with what you’re used to with apps running slower than expected. Then again, not sure you’ll need all the things Android 4.0 brings – there are always third-party apps that can enhance the functionality of your smartphone, right?
