After enjoying a lengthy stay on TELUS, the HTC Amaze has found its way to Canada’s two underdog carriers, WIND Mobile and Mobilicity. Both are slapping the “4G” title next to the device, but hey, what doesn’t count as 4G these days?
The HTC Amaze received top marks in our review, particularly for its sturdy, stylish construction. The Android 2.3 smartphone sports a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 megapixel camera with LED flash (plus 2 megapixel shooter on the front for video calling), and a sharp 4.3-inch 960 x 540 qHD touchscreen. The usual guts, like Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and a microSD memory card slot are also included.
This is the first HTC phone on WIND, and will also be their priciest for the time being. The next-cheapest is the XT720, which I didn’t particularly enjoy, followed up by the LG Optimus 2X and Samsung Nexus S. For Mobilicity, this is a pretty solid follow-up to the Panache.
It’s good to see the little guys offering some top-tier smartphones, especially when Bell, Rogers, and TELUS are in a good position to claim a lot of exclusives. You can snag the HTC Amaze at WIND Mobile over here for $249 on a WINDtab, or here for $549.99 with no strings attached.
