HTC today announced that it has started to roll out Honeycomb (Android 3.x) to the GSM version of the HTC Flyer. This update is hitting Europe first, but folks in the U.S. shouldn’t pout because the Wi-Fi version of the Flyer will “receive its Honeycomb update soon,” according to HTC.

The company left the following message on its Facebook page:

Ready for some ‘sweet’ news? The GSM version of the HTC Flyer tablet, available in Europe, is beginning to receive updates to Honeycomb beginning today! Honeycomb brings a ton of improvements to Android on tablets, including the latest version of HTC Sense for Tablet with enhanced Internet browsing, Mail, Calendar and more all optimized for the 7″ screen. Not to be outdone, the WiFi version of the HTC Flyer will receive its Honeycomb update soon, too! Stay tuned for more details.

The company might have missed a golden opportunity launching this thing without the latest Android tablet software, instead opting to release it later in the year when a bunch of beastly Tegra 3 slates are on the way. Regardless, it’ll be interesting to see what new features will come with this update to Honeycomb.
