Kik Messenger, one of the more popular group messaging apps we talked about in the past, is going for the slowly dying Symbian community, which still counts impressive number of users. Their free to download application is now available in the Nokia Ovi Store and it [app] allows those of you with Symbian smartphones to keep-up with other users of Kik Messenger, whether they use the iPhone, Android, BlackBerry or Windows Phone smartphone. In other words, Kik now supports the top five mobile platforms in the world.

If you haven’t read about Kik Messenger in the past, here’s what you should know:

  • It supports sent, delivered and received receipts as well as notifications indicating when someone in the conversation is typing a response
  • It allows users to send photos in a conversation
  • Supports option of scanning contacts for friends already on Kik
  • Allows group texting along with the ability to add friends to conversations with just two clicks
