Have you ever noticed an odd trend with the names of Android smartphones? There’s the Samsung Epic 4G Touch, HTC Evo Design 4G, Samsung Galaxy S II 4G, Samsung Captivate Glide, LG T-Mobile myTouch Q, and so many more. Do you see any similarities? Yes, the names suck.
Introducing the Android Phone Name Generator. It’s a revolutionary new website designed to predict upcoming names of Android phones using random combinations of stupid descriptions, adjectives, and suffixes. Just visit the website to give it a go, and click the logo for fresh new ideas. It’s actually quite addictive. Here’s a few of my personal favorites:
- HTC Droid Plus G1 E Z
- Sony Ericcson Liquid Touch Prime Plus E
- Samsung Fascinate Optimus V Prime G2
- Motorola Mesmerize Plus S 4G+ G1
- LG Motivate Touch E G2 G1
There’s a message trying to be conveyed here and it’s that manufacturers give Android phones awful names. Why do they all have to be so long and complicated? I never even liked the name “iPhone 3GS” because I find it too tacky. If I walk up to an iPhone owner and ask them what phone they have, they will tell me the model of the iPhone. If I walk up to an Android phone owner and ask the same question, more often than not they have no idea what the phone’s name is.
Simplicity wins this round.
