We keep on getting teased about the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, as we still don’t have a solid release date but the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the device will be $299.99 with a new, two-year contract when it lands later this month.
There’s nothing official on the release date but the report says that we’ll have to start getting used to that $300 price tag for high-end devices, as the Droid Razr and HTC Rezound both cost about $300 with a new two-year contract. The fact that all of these devices are 4G LTE handsets may give Verizon the leverage to charge more but the carrier is likely tired of having to shell out expensive subsidies for these high-end smartphones, so it’s asking users to pay a bit more to get on board. I’d be okay with this if it also didn’t bump up the early-termination fees for smartphones.
Regardless, I’m sure the Verizon Galaxy Nexus will be a hit, as it’s highly anticipated by die-hard Android fans because it’s the first device to launch with Ice Cream Sandwich. Additionally, it sports a beautiful 4.65-inch 720p screen and nearly all the features you’d want in a high-end phone. This version will also add 4G LTE and we’re hoping it won’t eat into the battery that much.
Would you pay $300 for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus?
