Archos 101 G9 TURBO edition is faster, has more storage than its non-TURBO predecessor

Archos unveiled an updated version of its 10-inch 101 G9 Android Honeycomb tablet simply called 101 G9 TURBO. That “TURBO” stands for additional 200MHz in CPU speed and 8GB more of built-in storage — the predecessor rocks a dual-core 1GHz processor and 8GB of storage, while this new model comes with slightly faster 1.2GHz CPU (still dual-core) and built-in storage capacity of 16GB. The additional bells and whistles translate into a 30 GBP premium – or 299 GBP.

And while that sounds kinda fair I can’t actually recommend the Archos tablet to anyone. Simply put – there are better options out there, most notably Honeycomb tablets made by the likes of Samsung and Motorola. Then again it is said that every product has its buyer, so the question is – are you one of them? You can always check out the Archos 101 G9 TURBO from this page.

I had the non-turbo version once upon a time and it was not impressive at all.  Very glitchy and slow to respond to actions.  I hope the turbo version is much improved.  If not, I hope the user is prepared for frustrating delays in actions.  I ended up trading out my Archos 101 (paid around $225) for an Acer Iconia tab ($400).  In my opinion, the Iconia is much more fluid in its response to actions.  Not quite as fluid as an iPad ($600), but it wasn’t as expensive either.

“Once upon a time”, you had the old Archos 101 G8 (which never had a turbo version)

This is the Archos 101 G9, a totally new and different model, which was just released.  :/
