Facebook Android app getting an overhaul

Facebook has announced a major upgrade to its Android app and this will bring this version up to speed with its iOS sibling and the HTML5-tastic mobile web version.

Overall, Facebook says the Android app is much quicker and easier to use than previous versions. If you’ve ever visited the mobile site, the new Facebook Android app will look very familiar as you have your messages on top and a new navigation bar on the left. The photos and albums are much cleaner and it should be easier to tag photos on the go.

Facebook is doing a good job of unifying its mobile experience across multiple platforms and you have to expect this to continue moving forward. Of course, Facebook may be working on its own phone, so let’s hope that it doesn’t lose focus on its other apps. You can download the app from the Android Market here. Let us know what you think.
