I’m going to go out on a limb here and say Rocksteady Studios’ Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City are games that finally got gamers to believe that not only can superhero games be good, but if developed by the right studio, it can sell millions and be in the running for Game of the Year by many a publication. Those of you who are looking for more Batman goodness can now look to your iOS device as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have released Batman: Arkham City Lockdown.
First of all, you should be aware the developer behind Batman: Arkham City Lockdown is NetherRealm Studios and not the developer of the console & PC versions of Batman: Arkham City, Rocksteady Studios. But, that doesn’t mean it isn’t in capable hands as if you played the recently released console version of Mortal Kombat, then you’ll know just what kind of content NetherRealm can deliver.
Batman: Arkham City Lockdown has players assuming the role as Batman himself as he faces off in one-on-one combat, similar to that of Infinity Blade, against the likes of The Joker, Two-Face, Solomon Grundy and iOS-exclusive Deathstroke. Players will be able to upgrade Batman’s arsenal, as well as gain access to unlockable content like additional skins to play with. For those of you how have an Apple TV, you’ll also be able to play Batman: Arkham City Lockdown on your HDTV using iOS 5’s AirPlay feature from your iPad 2 or iPhone 4S which is a welcome addition as the game looks gorgeous.
Batman: Arkham City Lockdown is now available for all iOS compatible devices and is selling for $5.99. If you’re a fan of Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Infinity Blade, then this might be a game worth looking into.
