The folks at Yamaha figured out a way to get Siri to play a Disklavier player piano. Siri can select a song from the user’s iTunes library (which was likely stocked with songs appropriate for the piano) and stop and start playback of the tune .
According to Jim Dalrymple of The Loop, Siri sends a song file with MIDI data from the phone to an Airport Express. The audio out of the Express connects to the MIDI inputs of the piano and, voila!, Siri can now tell the piano to play a song and move the Disklavier’s keys and pedals.
You can check out a YouTube demonstration of the Siri-controlled piano. It’s one of the best Siri hacks thus far.
