Motorola Droid 4 photos leak, we’re left hungry for Ice Cream Sandwich

Contrary to some minor previous speculation, Motorola is far from retiring its successful “Droid” line of smartphones. TechnoBuffalo obtained an upcoming Motorola Droid 4 with plenty of juicy photos.

Let me just get right to the big disappointment: there’s no Ice Cream Sandwich on this guy. It’s running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which is fine, but it’s no ICS. To stray away from jumping to conclusions, the Droid 4 TechnoBuffalo currently possesses is only a demo unit, and Motorola could still ship it with Android 4.0. As of now, however, we’re left underwhelmed.

That said, there’s plenty of other impressive specifications to indulge in. The Droid 4 packs a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage with microSD expansion slot, HDMI, and a 1785 mAh battery. On the front, you’ll see a 4-inch 960×540 qHD display along with an HD front-facing camera. Flip to the back to reveal the 8MP camera with 1080p HD video recording and flash. It’s also ready for Verizon’s 4G LTE network, that is if Verizon is ready to handle it.

CES 2012 is right around the corner, so don’t be surprised if we hear official word on the Droid 4 form Motorola there. Judging by what we know so far, it seems like another promising Android smartphone, but lacks any one feature to make it stand out from the crowd. It has some serious competition in the Galaxy Nexus, too.

Talk about REPEAT….This one fits right in with all the other USELESS DROID’S. Thank god for the Galaxy Nexus…

Hopefully, with the delay, it will ship with ICS. There’s no excuse for any phones released after this month to not come with ICS, except laziness on the manufacturer’s part.
