So you the shiny new Sony Xperia Ion but don’t want AT&T’s contract? No problem, the sexy device is now available for pre-order in its unlocked form from Negri Electronics, which is offering it for $569.50. It may sound too steep but bear in mind we’re talking about one of the best Android smartphones announced to date and considering it wears the Sony brand, the price is pretty much on par with our expectations. Heck I thought the SIM free Ion would be even more expensive, but luckily – I was wrong.
The separate question is what you’re going to do with the unlocked Xperia Ion in the U.S. since it cannot sing along T-Mobile’s 3G network. You can buy it here and use it in Europe and parts of Asia, but if you plan to use it in the States, you’ll need some kind of plan with AT&T, though you won’t have to commit on any contracts whatsoever.
In any case, you can get more information from this page at Negri Electronics’ website.
