Microsoft OneNote now available for Android

Microsoft said it would bring its suite of Office apps to mobile devices and the company is staying true to its word. Microsoft previously released it’s popular note-taking app, OneNote, for the iPad, iPhone, and, of course, Windows Phone. Starting on Tuesday, the app is now available on Android. The Android app lets you edit OneNote documents on your phone and sync the changes between devices using Microsoft’s SkyDrive service. The app also includes the following features:

  • Text formatting, images, and bulleted lists
  • To-do lists with clickable checkboxes
  • Quick photo capture with your phone’s camera
  • Quick access to recent notes
  • Store and access multiple OneNote notebooks
  • Sync to your free SkyDrive account for access anywhere
  • Offline access to your notes
  • Option to sync notebooks only over a Wi-Fi connection
  • Built-in spelling checker
  • Support for external hyperlinks
  • Table editing

The biggest drawback to the Android version is that it’s formatted for the phone. Though it would be perfect for a larger screen, the tablet app is not available yet and there’s no indication that Microsoft is readying one. If it’s still useful to you on the phone, you can grab the free OneNote for Android from the Android Market.

It’ll be available in the following regions: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Korea, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Niger, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
