No you’re not crazy. WinZip, the official app, is now available for iOS-based devices like the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, allowing you to manage ZIP archives while on the go.
Available as a free download, WinZip for iOS allows you to open ZIP files and attachments from email, browse and view ZIP files (including multi-file attachments), copy the contents of ZIP files to the clipboard and view ZIP file attachments from webmail. Moreover, you can also preview a number of file types from ZIP archives, including .txt, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx, .rtf, .pdf, .key, .numbers, .pages, .htm, .htm, .jsp, .bmp, .jpg, .jpeg, .tif, .tiff, .png, and .gif.
Unfortunately (or not – depending how you look at it), you can’t create new ZIP files from your photo and video library, and we guess that’s something that will be included in the next release.
In the meantime, those looking to try out WinZip on their iOS phone or tablet can hit the link below and take it from there.
