Intel is obviously in a hurry to push Android smartphones with its own Medfield CPUs and while it has to wait the big boys to adopt their technology, they are also shopping on a side for other potential partners. One such partner has already been found and it’s a little known (at least for the majority of us) company called Lava. According to the rumors, they will launch a separate company and a whole new brand just for smartphones.
As far as we know, their first Medfield-based device will ship with a 1.6GHz dual-core processor, 3.5 or 3.7-inch screen, and an 8-megapixel camera. The price for such a smartphone is still unknown and the same goes for the availability date. We’re sure Intel with its huge pile of cash will help Lava push Androids to India, though I don’t see them [Intel] getting a significant market share until HTCs and Motorolas of the world get their feet in the game, too. Then again, it’s good to have a head-start in the ever-growing mobile market of India, even with Lava. Heck, if that proves success, I’m sure they’ll find a similar company to push phones in China. We’ll see…
