If you read my review for The Simpsons: Tapped Out, you should know that I really enjoyed my time with the game before it was officially released to the public last Thursday. It looks like many of you caught wind Tapped Out was actually a good game, thus making the demand much greater than the supply EA set aside for server space for the game. In fact, the game has been a complete nightmare after it was released as server issues plagued the game, resulting in EA pulling it from the App Store for the time being.
EA had the following to say via their help page for the game:
To ensure current players have the best possible experience, we’ve temporarily removed The Simpsons: Tapped Out from the App Store to limit the game’s server capacity to its current players and address connectivity and lag time issues.
If you’ve downloaded the game, you can continue to play. Actually, your experience should only improve as we work on a solution. As soon as we have resolved these issues to handle greater player capacity, we will return The Simpsons: Tapped Out to the App Store.
As EA says, if you currently have the game downloaded on your iOS device, you shouldn’t be affected by the removal of the game from the App Store. But those who were hoping to check the game out in the near future are SOL for the time being until EA rectifies all of the server issues the game has been plagued with since its release. Hopefully EA will offer some kind of in-game compensation for all of the growing pains the game has been going through once the company deems it’s safe to make it available on the App Store.
