Apple hit its 25 billionth downloaded app over the weekend and the company announced both the winner and the app on Monday morning. The app was Where’s My Water? Free, a popular puzzle game from Disney. The winner was Chunli Fu of Qingdao, China who will receive a $10,000 iTunes gift card.

This promotion shows how popular iOS and the App Store has become. Apple crossed the crossed the 10 billion mark in January of 2011 and is now up to 25 billion a mere 12 months later. Apple also recently confirmed it has handed out $4 billion in payments to developers since the App Store began and is responsible for about 210,000 app economy jobs. Though it beats Apple in global device sales, Android is still behind iOS in app sales. Android recently celebrated its 10 billionth download in December 2011, almost  eleven months after iOS hit the mark.

Dude won a $10,000 iTunes gift card. Ironic that he still wouldn’t be able to legitimately fill a 160gb ipod with it.
