Pulse is already one of the most popular news readers out there. Like that’s not enough they keep adding new features and news sources to make their app/service even more appealing, even to folks who prefer to get their news fix on their computers.
Their latest category, Local, is made to provide users with a “simple and effective way” to discover what’s happening around them. Not only will you be able to get the latest local news and local sport team information, but also deals you actually care about.
To make this happen, Pulse has teamed-up with a number of companies, including:
- Patch – offering “local knowledge you can’t live without” in hundreds of communities.
- CBS Local News – providing news, sports, traffic and weather information.
- The Bold Italic – which delivers “unique stories and events” in San Francisco.
- Groupon, Living Social and Gilt City – to bring your favorite local deals.
- SBNation, Bleacher Report, CBS Sports and other – local sports news.
- Zagat and a number of local food blogs.
All in all, it seems Pulse is revamping itself from a (great) news reader to a full blown personalized magazine a la Flipboard, offering content that goes beyond news…
