The third-generation iPad launched today and within hours it was jailbroken by the members of the iPhone Dev Team. MuscleNerd posted up the proof of concept screenshots that show the iPad 3 with Cydia on it. He warns that this is “just a first step” and that there’s “still lots of work to do” on the jailbreak. He doesn’t give us any ETA, but if the iPad has been jailbroken this quickly, it should only takes days or weeks, not months to get a jailbreak tool prepped for public usage.
Updated: The iPhone Dev Team confirmed there are three different jailbreaks for the new iPhone. One from @MuscleNerd, one from @iOn1c, and one from @chpwn and @phoenixdev.
