Apple hinted that it broke a record for iPad sales this weekend and now the company confirmed it sold three million iPads since the tablet launched on March 16th. That’s three million iPads in a little less than four short days.
To put that in perspective, the iPad 2 sold one million during its launch weekend and the original iPad took about three months (80 days) to reach that three million milestone. It’s also more tablets than Motorola and RIM together sold in a year as Eric Zeman of Phone Scoop points out. Even the popular Kindle Fire is estimated to have sold about 3.9 million units in the last three months of 2011.
Regardless of whether you like Apple or not, you have to admit that these iPad sales numbers are impressive.
