Samsung’s year old Galaxy S II has another model number that’s much less talked about: GT-i9100. The Galaxy Nexus, which has a larger 720p screen, Android Ice Cream Sandwich, and 4G LTE (in America), also has an unsexy model number: GT-i9250. Last month ago a device called the GT-i9300 showed up on Samsung’s website courtesy of a UAP profile. That’s nothing more than a fancy file that tells websites and applications what sort of capabilities a device has. Simple logic dictates that the GT-i9300 has to be the Galaxy S III, right? But today we finally get to see an image of what’s allegedly called the GT-i9300, and boy is it ugly. The front of the device doesn’t have any capacitive buttons, it features Samsung’s logo prominently on the bottom, and most disturbing of all is the thick bezel. It should be noted that back in December 2011 there was a rumor floating around that the Galaxy S III had the model number GT-i9500, but we haven’t heard anything about that rumor since.
Here’s what we know about the Samsung Galaxy S III: Nothing. There’s so much conflicting information about this device that it’s hard to paint an accurate picture of what it’s supposed to bring to the table. Is it quad core or dual core? Is the screen 720p or 1080p? Is it going to be 4.8 inches or 4.6 inches? Believe what you want, because we’re not going to know anything about the Galaxy S III until May. There’s word spreading around the internets that it’ll be announced in April, but we don’t buy that. And if we’re wrong, oh well, that happens when you talk about rumors.
Are you holding out for the Galaxy S III or are you pretty much sold on HTC’s One X or Sony’s Xperia S or whatever LG calls their flagship, the Optimus 4X Slicer Dicer Juicer HD?
