While most BlackBerry users are enjoying BlackBerry OS 7, some are still stuck to the old version of the operating system, those with the Torch 9800 being one of them. Now Canada’s Virgin Mobile and Bell (along with RIM) released firmware updates to make the experience at least a bit better for owners of the popular BlackBerry slider phone.

After the update, your Torch will run OS version 6.0.0.706 (up from v6.0.0.534), fixing a number of bugs along the way. We don’t know what exactly is changed and frankly – we don’t care. It’s a small fix that should tweak a thing or two under the hood to improve the device’s stability and performance.

Make sure to backup all your key information before proceeding and that your battery life is fully charged. Good luck! ;)
