File this under rumors but it seems HTC is working on an Android-based media player. Guess they like Apple’s iPod Touch sales figures and since Samsung is already doing it – why not give it a shot? Personally I don’t get the point of such devices — since my phone does all that plus allows me to make phone calls — but that’s me.
Anyway, the Taiwanese company filed a patent in early 2011 and was granted this week, outlining plans for a smart media player. We can’t tell the size of this thing, but we see stereo speakers on both sides of the wide screen, as well as a vertical-facing stand. In other words, we’re talking about a device made for frequent travelers who can’t help but entertain themselves while flying or taking a train.
Now as far as we know HTC could dump plans to release a dedicated media player, but we’re eager to know – if a cool media player is released, would you be interested to grab it? Or you want a tablet instead?
