Analysis shows 35% of Twitter users were upset about Facebook buying Instagram

Did you cringe when you heard that Facebook was going to buy Instagram? Apparently you weren’t alone. Over 1/3 of the tweets (35 percent) that referenced the acquisition were negative, with most people expressing anger and disgust at Facebook. Another 18 percent were from people in shock at the news and ten percent said they deleted their Instagram account. Only a handful of people (4 percent) actually look forward to the collaboration.

This bit of analysis comes from Crimson Hexagon, a Twitter sentiment analysis firm which examined over 200,000 tweets about the purchase. You can check out the rest of the report on their blog.
