Sony announced that the Xperia S will soon be available at its stores across Canada. Beginning April 17th, fans of the Japanese company will be able to get the unlocked device and use it on Rogers’ network. Unfortunately we don’t know the price and can only speculate how much this powerful smartphone will cost — if I had to guess, I would say it will sell for some $650.
Now that’s all cool to see Sony bringing its new smartphone(s) to Canada, but it seems they failed to reach an agreement with local carriers. Let’s face it – most people buy phones with a contract and in that sense (without a carrier deal) I doubt the Japanese giant will be able to move enough units. Moreover, although the Xperia S is a powerful device, I would get the HTC One X over it every day. It has a bigger screen and runs Ice Cream Sandwich out of box, whereas Sony’s phone still relies on Android 2.3 Gingerbread (though it will get its ICS update soon)…
