The long-awaited ClashMob update for Infinity Blade II has finally gone live today, bringing with it the ability to team up with hundreds of thousands of players worldwide to help complete dynamic challenges on a grand scale. Players will be able to recruit their friends to their own “Mob” to receive special incentives, new achievements, and special rewards. Your ClashMob progress can also be posted via Facebook and Twitter.

The ClashMob update introduces new characters to fight as well as new weapons, rings, and gems and a new Gem Forge feature that allows players to craft their own custom gems to be equipped into their weapons and armor.

Today’s update should also be a special treat for new iPad owners as Epic Games has also enhanced the graphics of the iPad version of Infinity Blade II to support the new iPad’s retina display.

After playing around with the ClashMob feature, I find the “MyMob” area to be a bit lacking as I can only currently invite Facebook friends as long as we’re connected to each other. It would be great to invite people on Twitter or Game Center to be a part of my mob seeing as not everyone I know has a Facebook profile. Seeing as this is the initial launch of ClashMob, there’s certainly room for improvement and hopefully Epic will offer more options to add people to their mob without needing Facebook to be the middle-man.

If you have yet to pick up Infinity Blade II, Epic has dropped the price down from $6.99 to $4.99 to celebrate today’s ClashMob update.
