Lonely Planet announced a series of new country guide apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch, including apps covering Italy, Ireland, France, Spain, Australia and Costa Rica. As you can imagine from Lonely Planet apps, each comes with expert content and recommendations as well as detailed maps for the entire country – all of which works entirely offline so there are no roaming or data fees.
Among the content you’ll be able to read are background information on a country, practicalities, suggested itineraries, and thousands of author recommended places to eat, drink, sleep, shop, visit and see. Moreover, information on every region that’s covered in Lonely Planet print guidebooks also comes included.
When it comes to the apps’ look and feel, Lonely Planet promises intuitive navigation with easy-to-browse tabs so that you’re never more than a few taps away from the information you seek. Additionally you can easily flip between the maps and text.
Price wise, the Lonely Planet country guide apps are available for $9.99 each from the App Store on iPhone and iPod touch. Alternatively, you can get them as in-app purchases from the Lonely Planet Travel Guides App.
