Ever since Street Fighter IV made its way to the iOS platform, fighting games have been continuing to make their way as Mortal Kombat, King of Fighters, and even classic Street Fighter II have been released giving fighting fans who are on-the-go their fix. Today, Capcom has released what is considered one of the greatest fighting games of all time, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, onto the iOS platform.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 brings everything you love from the original game right onto your iOS device. All 56 characters from the original game have made it as well as all of the game’s stages, sights and sounds have been delivered. Not all characters are unlocked when you first play MvC2 as you’ll need to earn points through playing the game in order to purchase characters through a number of modes including Arcade Mode, local Vs Mode, and Training Mode.

Seeing as how this game requires a ton of inputs, Capcom has introduced a new “Flick Button” system that allows players to not only tap on a button in order to execute a command, but you can also flick the button in a particular direction to execute another command. For example, tapping on the team button will call in your teammate to perform an attack. If you flick the team button in a certain direction, you’ll be able to issue another command like tagging your teammate in to fight. The only trick is learning which swipe direction issues what command as I found myself flicking like a madman in order for something to happen.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 retails for $4.99, but Capcom is slashing that price in half to $2.99 from now until May 6th. If you’re a fan of MvC 2, then you’re definitely going to want to check out the iOS version as it’s probably the closest you’ll get to having the full game in your pocket for a super low price.
