CTIA 2012: Droid Incredible 4G LTE hands-on

HTC and Verizon announced the Droid Incredible 4G LTE today and we got some hands on time with the latest handset in the Droid family here at CTIA.

The obvious successor to the previous Incredible models, the Incredible 4G LTE retains its molded design on the back, but with a different take. You’ll also find the familiar red ring around the camera with a single LED flash, which we’re assuming is similar to the One X’s flash that has five levels of brightness.

The handset sports a 4 inch Super LCD display at qHD resolution, 1.2GHz dual-core snapdragon processor, 8mp BSI f/2.2 camera, NFC, microSD card slot, 1700 mAh battery. You’ll also get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich running the show with Sense 4 on top.

While we can understand that Verizon would want to update the Incredible line, and we’re sure fans of the previous handsets will like it, anything that doesn’t look like the level of quality of the One X feels like a let down. Of course, we’re sure Verizon wasn’t going for the elegant beauty of the One X with the latest Droid Incredible, and it’s more than powerful enough to hold its own.

We’ll soon have a video for you to watch but for now check out the pictures below!

The fact that the Incredible 4G has a microSD slot and the One X doesn’t makes the Incredible 4G the winner in my book.

My #1 priority in smartphones is 5-row QWERTY keyboards (such as the DROID 4) followed closely by higher resolution and larger displays (priority #2).  However, the recent Samsung smartphones with 5-inch (+/-) displays has tanked the DROID line of smartphones which have much smaller displays (4-inches).  Is there any hope that the DROIDS (all) will go to the 5-inch (+/-) size of display and one model retain the QWERTY?
