Cricket has teamed-up with TuneCore, which is the largest distributor of digital music with “one of the highest revenue-generating music catalogs in the world.” As a result, Muve Music‘s library will be increased by up to 2 million tracks, while TuneCore artists will get access to over 600,000 Muve Music customers.
Under the deal, Cricket will obtain the rights to both the recordings and songs represented by TuneCore and will pay royalties directly to TuneCore, providing artists and song writers with an “efficient, transparent and timely royalty collection system.” Not that we actually care about that part, though.
The part we do care about is when Muve Music customers will be able to access the new songs. Cricket said that the phased rollout will start immediately and is expected to be completed by the end of 2012.
The Muve Music plan is available with few Cricket handsets, including Huawei Mercury, Huawei Ascend II, Samsung Vitality, ZTE Score and ZTE Chorus…
