Cloud communications company Twilio launched Twilio Client (SDK) for Android, making it super-easy for mobile developers to integrate VoIP capabilities into their Android apps.
Among the features developers will be able to access are:
- Real-time presence with buddy list support – the Twilio platform will notify an app when a user is ready for voice chat so that calls are only made when users are online.
- App backgrounding – the SDK can receive voice calls even if the app is not the current one being used.
- Cross-platform interoperability – Twilio Client supports Android, iOS and web browsers, allowing for calls between platforms without issues.
