HTC has started rolling out Android 4.0 update for the Sensation XL in parts of Europe. Reports indicate that the first batch is mostly targeting folks who bought the smartphone off-contract, though users on Three UK are apparently getting the same treatment as well.

The 197MB heavy download brings all of the goodies of Ice Cream Sandwich along with improvements in the Sense UI. The new version of HTC’s UI (3.6) feels lighter and somewhat faster… Moreover, we would assume some of the bugs have been squashed while making the device that much faster along the way.

In any case, make sure you have a local copy of all key data before proceeding. Once that is on place and your Sensation XL is fully charged, connect to a local hotspot and search for updates. Follow the on-screen procedure and soon enough you’ll be running the latest mobile OS on your HTC smartphone. Good luck. 😉

P.S. If you still don’t see the update, don’t worry – these sort of things are usually rolled out in stages, meaning you’ll get it in the next few days or weeks.
