Thomson is looking to join the Android smartphone market. And that’s not just any market, but the specific niche of devices that sit somewhere between tablets and phones. You know, I’m talking about such phablets like the Samsung Galaxy Note.
To that end Thomson will launch the X-view 2, which comes with a 5.3-inch screen and other standard goodies (for a high-end smartphone) like an 8-megapixel camera, HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, sensors, big battery (2500 mAh) and so on. But wait, there’s more – this little big fella’ has one more trick – it has two SIM card slots, allowing you to use two different networks (or two different phone numbers) at once.
Unfortunately we don’t have the exact release date — all we have is “summer 2012.” Moreover, we don’t know how much Thomson will ask for the X-view 2, but something tells me this won’t be an Average Joe’s phone of choice. We do know it will be available in black or white… As soon as we hear something new, we’ll get back to you…
