Google is sending out invitations to a Maps-related event that’ll be held on June 6th. The invitation says we will see “The Next Dimension of Google Maps”, a wording that suggests Google may add 3D mapping or navigation features to its popular mapping solution.

Google is holding this event a week before Apple kicks off WWDC on June 11th in San Francisco. Recent rumors claim Apple may introduce its own 3D mapping application during the developer’s conference. If this rumor pans out, then we may be on the cusp of some exciting times in the world of mobile navigation.
