Nokia is releasing a Trailers app for Windows Phone exclusive to its Lumia line of handsets. It brings all the latest Hollywood movie trailers to the devices plus some extras to make the most out of the app.
The Trailers app, first made available in Nokia’s Ovi Store, has been totally redesigned to fit the Windows Phone standard Metro user interface. It’s very dark and largely text-based, aside from the movie posters. You can browse the featured movies, trailers for movies that haven’t hit theaters yet and your own downloads, among other things.
I mention “Downloads” because one unique aspect of this app is that you can optionally download any trailer for offline viewing instead of having to stream it while connected to the Internet. You can also create a watch list of trailers you want to view later. If you’re a real movie buff, you can even add a live tile to your Windows Phone home screen that will alert you when new movie trailers are added to the app’s database. Then lastly to actually watch these movies, the Trailers app can help you locate nearby theaters.
The Nokia Trailers app is totally free — and by “totally,” I mean there’s no ads either. There has yet to be a high quality trailer app for Windows Phone, so Nokia’s offering is a welcome addition to the platform. You can find it in the Windows Phone Marketplace right here, but again, it’s only available for Nokia Lumia handsets.
