As per usual, Amazon Wireless is throwing up some great deals on smartphones and is offering the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for a mere penny. While the handset may be 6 months old at this point (Ancient in Android phone years), it’s still a great phone and grabbing it for a penny is a steal.
Of course, to get the Galaxy Nexus for a penny, you’re going to need to sign a two-year contract with Verizon. Also, this deal is only for new customers, and existing Verizon customers will still have to pay up $149 to get the handset. While we really like the Galaxy Nexus, if you’re looking to upgrade your phone within the next two months, we’d suggest you wait it out for the Samsung Galaxy S III that should be landing on all five major US carriers later this month. If you’re really looking forward to owning a Nexus phone, then you might want to check out the rumor that Google will be releasing up to five Nexus devices this year before you pull the trigger.
No matter how you spin it, a penny for a phone is a great deal, especially when it as powerful as the Galaxy Nexus. No, it may not have a quad-core processor, or even something that the Snapdragon S4, but it’s still a great handset that many will be happy with.
