In an unsurprising move, Sprint is no longer selling iDEN phones that run on Nextel’s network. The carrier has removed the iDEN handsets from Boost Mobile’s website and calls to several Sprint locations by Phone Scoop suggest the carrier is no longer stocking the phones in its stores.
Earlier this year, Sprint began to accelerate the timeline for shutting down its iDEN-based Nextel network. A significant number of Nextel towers will be shut down this summer and its iDEN network will be turned off completely by 2013.
