HTC prepares for the Samsung Galaxy S III launch saying the One X is a superior product

On the heels of my yesterday’s rant which phone to choose — HTC One X or Samsung Galaxy S III — we got HTC’s promo material as it prepares to face the “Galaxy S III challenge.”

The Taiwanese company says their smartphone is superior, boasting a better screen, sound, camera and CPU. Moreover, the One X’s body is made out of polycarbonate rather than plastic (as in Galaxy S III) and is therefore a more durable device.

And while HTC’s baby lacks microSD card slot, it does have a ton of built-in storage, which is apparently more than enough for most users (or so does HTC think).

I’m kinda tempted to believe HTC’s marketing materials, though as I said – you can’t go wrong whether you pick Galaxy S III or One X. Both sit at the very high end of the range, offering awesome experience to the users.

Still – you gotta prefer one, right?

They missed something out..and the most important thing…

Better sales – SGS III  (presales at least)

What’s that got to do with the decision on whether or not to buy the product itself?

      • Anonymous

Biggest factor in purchasing decisions is how popular/common something is. AKA social proof incl. of personal recommendations.

Then you should buy iphone instead

Already have one of each (Android + iOS). Next device will probably be the pureview. Need more pockets.

Its really difficult to choose one over the other. I will just order the one thats more expensive ;) I dont have to pay for it anyways.

HTC Sense is a deal breaker. Sorry HTC!

Touchwiz is a real deal breaker

      • Bevhill

Not as much as Sense though.

Sense is an abomination. It’s bloated and lags.
Not to mention it looks old fashioned.

        • Anonymous

Well sense 4.0 is no longer bloated and lags.
And when it comes to appearance, it’s personal preference, but I bought my One X because the UI looks much better. I don’t know why you think it is old fashioned when compared to the still gingerbread-like touchwiz. Maybe you should try the new sense that is appreciated by Engadget first.

The latest version of HTC’s proprietary skin, Sense 4, comes on top of Android 4.0.3. But this isn’t your father’s old version of Sense. In fact, it’s a much more refreshing take on a skin that used to be incredibly bogged down by nonsense animations and unnecessary UI elements. Is it stock Ice Cream Sandwich? No, not by a long shot. But what you’ll get with the One X’s user experience is a pleasant mix of ICS and Sense, both halves somehow finding a way to live together in harmony. That’s not to say Sense 4 is a complete and perfect Android skin. But it does a much better job figuring out the spirit of stock Android and truly striving to emulate the OS, instead of throwing Google’s designs and inspiration out the window. HTC’s goal was to make the new Sense much lighter and less burdensome to the rest of the platform, and we’d say it has largely succeeded.

Lay off the bong pipe bro.

          • Desmond

Sure HTC tried to improve Sense this time around, but the fact is, even the improved Sense is still a POS.

            Even
if touchwiz looks like gingerbread, it still looks classier and more
streamlined than Sense. You don’t need to fix something that’s not
broken, like iOS. Unchanged doesn’t necessarily mean old fashioned.

Sense was obviously broken, which is why htc tried to fix it. Unfortunately it’s still broken.

Using Engadget as a metric is like relying on National Enquirer for the news.
            If
you read more reputable and reliable review sites, and heck, even htc
boards with one x users posting, you’ll find that a lot of them complain
about the lag and stutter in Sense.

            Sense is still bogged down,
and combined with a processor that’s inferior to the S3′s, you have a
decent but inferior user experience to Touchwiz.

I’m going to ignore the rest of your marketing mumbo jumbo.

“pleasant mix…both halves somehow finding a way to live together in
harmony….spirit of stock Android and truly striving to emulate the
            OS”?

Who the f%^*! are you trying to fool?

“and we’d say it has largely succeeded”

We? You’re obviously an HTC shill or a disturbed fanboy.
No wonder you bring up Engadget as evidence.

The display argument certainly has merit, if I were looking at the screen blown up to a gigantic degree and had my nose touching the screen.

  • Ethan

If I hadn’t seen that chart with my own eyes, I wouldn’t believe how pathetic HTC could become.

    Better speed? Better camera?

LOL Every review and benchmark shows the Galaxy S3 has superior performance and camera quality.

    Better durability?

LOL Polycarbonate = plastic! And the S3 is ALSO polycarbonate.

I can’t believe HTC would stoop to this pathetic level of dishonesty.

    Better screen?

Samsung’s screen technology is second to none. The entire world knows that.

Better design is a matter of opinion.

In my opinion, HTC’s phones look like cheap Chinese knock offs of the Lumia.
The back also looks like it has a nipple or a dead fish eye.

My god HTC. How low you have fallen. I lost all remaining shred of respect I had left for you.

    • Nottynag

more like a samsung fanboy …

      • Gist

        For stating facts?

Fanboy of whatever brand or not, you have to admit the HTC chart is absurd, and that Ethan was pointing out the lies.
