Sony announced that the rollout of the latest version of Android for the Xperia S has started. Alongside Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, the 200MB heavy download also brings some Sony-specific apps, namely WALKMAN, Album and Movies.
The first of the pack blends the best of signature Sony audio technology with social features, making it easy to discover new music and share personal favorites. Moreover, there’s also additional content included like album art, artist images and information.
The Album app is an optimized version of the Gallery, allowing you to browse photos and videos in “blazing speed,” along with the ability to comment and share stuff on Facebook and other online albums.
Finally, the Movies application “streamlines the playback and viewing of movies in high quality audio and video, whilst using intelligent database search to grab movie posters and information for a richer experience.”
Of course, standard ICS features come built-in as well, including improved lock screen, resizable widgets, improved control of mobile data consumption and the Recent Apps button for clear overview of your applications.
The sad news is that you may not be able to get the new software this very second, since its availability may vary across countries and carriers…
