Instagram is one of the most popular apps in the free world, so every update is significant, especially since the application isn’t updated frequently. In this new update (version 2.5), Instagram adds more eye candy that includes a new Explore tab for browsing hashtags and usernames, search autocomplete, and a revamped profile. The wildly popular mobile application also features likes (hearts) that allows users to post directly to Facebook’s Open Graph.
Checkout the full change log:
- Revamped profile tab
- Search for users and tags in the Explore tab
- Improvements to commenting
- User search autocompletes based on people you follow
- Visual improvements
- Speed optimizations
- Optionally share likes to Facebook (enable in your Profile > Sharing Settings > Facebook)
I’m glad that they finally improved the hashtag functionality, because it’s both a usual and fun component to the user experience of the app. Now if they could only add a feature like ‘edit’ your comments — the application would be perfect.
