Just before some of you/us hit the road for the summer holiday, it’s a good idea to fill-up your phone with useful apps. There are so many of them, prompting HighTable to compile a list of the most useful ones and nicely present them in an infographic.

As you’re about to see, they divided all the apps in 4 categories, including Road travel, air travel and public transportation, hotels and food, and city exploration. All in all, I agree with the list, though it is suggested that you play with the apps at home first to decide which ones work for you and which ones are, well, useless. Check out how it all comes together in the infographic below…

About The Author

Dusan Belic

Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most excited about, and writing about it is the next logical thing to do. He thinks that using a smartphone is what everyone who cares about their time should do. In addition to his interests in mobile phones, Dusan also loves to experiment with the latest web and mobile 2.0 services. The idea of accessing and managing your information from any device no matter where you are simply amazes him. Whether it's an online to-do list, note taking service or a video sharing social network, he's there to try it out. He admits though, he's still searching for the ultimate web-based organizational tool, which "sings" perfectly with the mobile PIM application. Dusan used to run SymbianWatch.com which later became part of IntoMobile. He lives in Serbia, South-East Europe, from where he edits the site on a daily basis.

And what is the reason you are excluding Windows Phone apps from this infographic?

A lot of great apps mentioned here, from food to lodging to transportation logistics. I particularly have enjoyed using Gas Buddy, City Guides, Kayak and Yelp. These apps help me navigate the unfamiliar, for a more seamless travel experience. Another app I like to use is the Dish Remote Access app. This way I can take my entertainment with me when I go. I was excited when a coworker at Dish recommended that I download the app because it enables me to watch live TV and recorded shows, from my iPhone and iPad! Its so convenient and it saves me time and money.

That is a cool looking infographic, where do you get these made and how do you get them published? It is something I am interested in but really have no clue on how to get started.
