Twitter for Windows Phone gets push notifications

One of the biggest omissions from the Twitter for Windows Phone application has been the lack of push notifications alerting you when you had a new mention, direct message, retweet, favorite, or new follower. An update to Twitter for Windows Phone is currently available in the Windows Phone Marketplace that brings customizable push notifications, which provides the ability to turn each one of the previously mentioned scenarios on or off. In case a notification wasn’t enough for you, the live tile will also flip to alert you to these scenarios. Quite the handy upgrade, though it’s a shame it took over a year to implement.

The update also brings with it the new Twitter logo. You know, the one with the Twitter bird confidently posted with his chest out, looking up towards the sky. Be sure to head to the Windows Phone Marketplace to update the Twitter application for all the push notification and new logo goodness.
